Antonio Hunt (who likes to be called Tonio) will join the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church as the newly appointed Director of Music in January 2025. Dr. Hunt joins as an experienced church musician who first and foremost is a steadfast Believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and grateful for the ability to honor, glorify, and serve Him through gifts of music.
Versatility in music has enabled Tonio to successfully connect with multiple generations, cultures and ethnicities through worship music that inspires people to serve the Lord, fulfill His purpose for them, and love one another.
He holds a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the University of Oklahoma, a M.M. in choral conducting from Georgia State University, and a B.A in piano performance from Morehouse College, where he also served as student accompanist and section leader for the Morehouse College Glee Club.
A passionate and decorated music educator, Dr. Hunt has taught music in the public schools at all grade levels in three different states. In 2013, he was named the Teacher of the Year at Samuel W. Wolfson Magnet High School (Jacksonville, FL) for his work in rebuilding the music program there.
Dr. Hunt also serves as Director of Choral Activities /Assistant Professor at Randolph-Macon College where he teaches courses in choral conducting, music theory, and music education.
Tonio lives in the Richmond area and enjoys cooking, particularly grilling and experimenting with a variety of seasonings. His immediate family resides in his hometown in Jackson, TN.
