6:00 pm Casual
Service
with Weekly Communion
Each Wednesday at 6:00 pm in our fellowship hall, we will offer an alternate mid-week worship celebration. All Ashlanders are welcome, especially those who cannot worship on Sundays because of work schedules or are out of town on weekends due to travel, vacations, or work. The 45-minute services will include song, prayer, scripture, a brief sermon and the celebration of the Lord's Supper (which is open to all).
Rev. David Hindman, senior pastor at Duncan Memorial, explains the rationale for offering this alternate service.
We now live in a 24/7 society in which many people do not have the privilege to gather with other Christians on Sunday mornings for worship because of work schedules, or Sunday is the only day they can do chores, spend significant time with family, run errands, or sleep late. And during the summer many Ashlanders travel or take vacation. We want to provide a time for folks to gather for worship and to step back from the busyness of life simply to breathe a moment, get their bearings, be reminded of things we might otherwise forget, and leave strengthened and inspired to live life well before the presence of God.
